FCA has a vision to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. We’re on mission to lead EVERY coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. 

 

In 2023, Ryan Gloer launched the GOLGOTHA 24-hour fitness challenge to engage the fitness community with the ministry of FCA, to point people to the life-giving hope and transformational power found in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to rally people together to raise money for a great cause.

 

What started as a couple of guys in Jeremy Martin’s unfinished Ultimate Athlete facility in Charlotte, NC, God has grown into a global movement. From Ervin Mack in Columbia, SC to Ken Lovell in Jacksonville, NC to Krystal Peterson in Richland, WA and now our partnership with Mayhem Athlete, we are uniting athletes and fitness enthusiasts across garage gyms, CrossFit boxes, and sports performance facilities around the world. 

 

Every workout is intentionally designed to point hearts toward Jesus and is preceded by a devotional that walks participants through the story of His sacrifice— from the Last Supper to the Garden of Gethsemane to the crucifixion on the cross at Calvary to His glorious resurrection.

 

You’ll feel the fatigue. You’ll battle the clock. You’ll have moments where you want to quit. And in those moments, remember: IT MIGHT FEEL LIKE FRIDAY, BUT SUNDAY IS COMING! We serve a victorious, resurrected Savior. Jesus is risen and the tomb is empty – and because of that we have real and lasting hope!

 

As you train hard for His glory and as you push yourself way beyond your limits through 24 hours of non-stop fitness – take time to intentionally celebrate the life that you have because of Jesus and His finished work!

NOTICE: The Golgotha Challenge is a voluntary, self-directed workout program. All exercises are performed independently and without supervision by FCA. Participation is entirely voluntary and involves inherent risks, including risk of injury or death. FCA does not provide coaching, supervision, medical advice, insurance coverage, or on-site safety personnel in connection with this Challenge. Participants are solely responsible for determining whether they are physically and medically able to participate.

Participation Options

The heart of this Challenge is the story of Jesus.

Here are the ways you can participate:


Participate Anywhere

Every workout is fully scalable to your space, equipment, and ability. If you need help modifying movements, connect with the person who invited you.


Choose Your Timing

Scripture tells us Jesus took His final breath at 3:00 p.m. on Good Friday. While the Challenge traces His final 24 hours leading to that moment, you can complete it at whatever time works best for you or your gym.


Ways to Join:

Option 1 — Full Golgotha Experience

Download the Golgotha Challenge Packet below. It includes everything you need: devotional, workout, and huddle content for each hour from 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17 to 3:00 p.m. Good Friday, April 18 (EST). This is the preferred way to participate globally and walk through the story in real time.


Option 2 —  Select a Few Workouts

Choose 1–2 workouts for Thursday and 1–2 for Friday or focus on a couple on Good Friday alone. If those days don’t work, complete them on any day or time that fits your schedule.


Option 3 — Spread It Out

Do one devotional, workout, and huddle per day for 23 days. Don’t miss the impact of this story—take it at a pace that allows you to engage deeply.


For Coaches Who Love to Program

Feel free to design the physical portion to best serves your athletes. Keep the devotional content unchanged, allowing space for the Holy Spirit to lead conversations where they need to go.
